On your way to getting your Bachelor of Engineering degree, you will collect practical professional experience with us – and in multiple companies, different training stations and at different locations within the Group. The dual study course means the study and practical phases alternate around every three months. You will complete the theoretical phases at the HWR Berlin and the practical stages at Deutsche Wohnen. As a result, you will learn practical content that will guarantee you the best job opportunities later on.

Theory and practice

We work with the HWR Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht in Berlin (Berlin School of Economics and Law) to teach theoretical knowledge.HWR Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin
Campus Lichtenberg
Alt-Friedrichsfelde 60
10315 Berlin
Germany

The course comprises the following special subject modules:

-    Life cycle phases of a property, i.e. planning, building, operating, renovating and recycling
-    Technical and business skills for implementing projects in the fields of building operation, maintenance and energy management
-    Architecture, civil engineering, supply and disposal technology, electrical engineering and IT
-    Business management topics such as “Management Accounting”, “Law” or “Organisation, HR and Quality Management”

Further information on the study programme and its structure can be found on the website of the HWR Berlin

During the practical training, you can expect demanding tasks and diverse challenges. You will be able to directly apply and expand on the knowledge you have acquired in your studies.

Procurement and investment management

Lots of threads come together here: You will learn how to procure products, carry out analysis activities and process optimisations and develop and implement action strategies for quality assurance/improvement and cost optimisation. Your teaching content also includes the management of service providers and active contract management, risk analyses in the context of transactions and subject-related processes that you first develop together with colleagues and then implement. You also help to manage corporate entities outside the basis of consolidation of the Deutsche Wohnen Group as part of operational investment management. These include, for example, energy management and facility management.

Technical project management

You will work with architects and assist them in preparing tenders and commissioning and accepting construction projects. This is a crucial part of accommodation design and development. You will also learn all about the technical aspects of the residential complexes, e.g. when orders are placed or invoices are processed, to ensure that the technology runs without any problems.

IT

Without a functioning IT nobody can work: You will support all other departments in their cross-divisional business and system processes, where conception, planning and the mapping of business requirements are important.

Service point

Here, you will have regular contact with customers and take care that everything runs according to plan, defects have been remedied and apartment viewings run smoothly.

Rent development/control

There’s a lot to discover: Take a look over your colleagues’ shoulders and learn how to calculate rent developments and control modernisation and repair measures. Customer satisfaction is key in this field, you and the team will ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Accounting/Consolidation

The teaching content in the Accounting/Consolidation department consists of: preparing document postings and executing postings according to the chart of accounts and posting programmes, creating monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for specific business areas, processing account statements, digital invoice workflow, fixed asset accounting and VAT returns.

Infrastructural services

You will learn everything there is to know about technical and infrastructural services, such as the duties of a caretaker. You will also learn how calls for tenders, awarding and contract management work. You will take part in process briefings and training courses and will be involved in technical inventory assessments.

Central control

We will show you how communication with third-party administrations and service providers works in close cooperation with the service points. You will learn all about controlling the infrastructure and technical service companies and safeguarding the processes in the SAP system. This includes SAP integration of acquisition portfolios and maintaining quality management systems.
