The Federal Foundation of Baukultur holds the Convention of Baukultur every two years – the main forum for debate on the state of the built environment in Germany. The convention boasts over 200 qualified members widely recognised for their extraordinary commitment to building culture.

As a leading German property company whose portfolio has a unique architectural history, Deutsche Wohnen has been a member of The Federal Foundation of Baukultur since 2017 and is committed to the issue of quality, considerate planning and building. Deutsche Wohnen is supporting this year’s Convention of Baukultur as a sponsor. The company is also presenting a small exhibition on its four UNESCO Estates of Berlin Modernism at the event. With around 30,000 listed residential units, Deutsche Wohnen is Germany’s biggest owner of listed residential properties. Deutsche Wohnen has always felt a particularly strong responsibility to protect and care for this valuable heritage.

The convention begins with a base camp on 6 November 2018 with five open forums on the latest issues in building culture. The event also ties in with a cultural programme: the exhibition ‘Grenzen | Borders’, with award-winning photography from the European Architectural Photography Prize, opens in Potsdam, with a building culture evening and reception. The workshop day, 7 November 2018, sees the presentation of the 2018/19 Baukultur Report ‘Erbe – Bestand – Zukunft’ [‘Heritage – Portfolio – Future’], which is also the focus of several themed workshops.
