Kera
In May 2019, Berlin artist Kera created a mural featuring a bright orange bird on Danziger Strasse in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district.
Kera has been working internationally as an independent artist since 2012. His works have a distinctive graphic, colourful style. Lines, structure and surface are dominant features of his urban artworks.
The facade features a geometric drawing of a bird. Kera consciously attempted to combine aspects of figurative and abstract painting in his work. The motif is reminiscent of a paper crane made by origami, the Japanese art of paper-folding. The bold colours create a sense of lightness and freedom. ‘The bird is vibrant with bold colour and stands out from the background, yet it blends in with its graphic features,’ says Kera of his work. The intense colours contrast with the muted colours of the surrounding buildings’ facades.
