bautec 2020: smart solutions for Deutsche Wohnen buildings
What does the digital building of the future look like? At bautec, the Berlin trade fair, eight digital service providers will present their integrated solution for a smart building – based on Deutsche Wohnen’s specifications.
True interconnectivity and all-round concepts, not stand-alone solutions: that’s the aim of ‘das digitale Gebäude @2020’, the digital building that partners Comgy, GETEC mobility solutions, GETEC Wärme & Effizienz, IOLITE IQ, Jäger Direkt, KIWI, Simplifa and SYNVIA media will present at bautec from 18 to 21 February.
Electric car charging stations, smart door communication and access control, and interconnected smart home and multimedia applications – all aspects of the system draw on one another. A digital meter reading solution for smart heating and energy management rounds off the smart property.
Deutsche Wohnen has long been working closely with some of the providers to drive digitalisation in its existing portfolio. For instance, we equipped an entire residential building with KIWI’s keyless entry system, and we’re working with Comgy to digitise our customers’ heating bills.
Markus Stoll, CEO of Deutsche Wohnen Beschaffung und Beteiligung GmbH, explains why interconnectivity is so crucial in the smart building.
Mr Stoll, why have you opted for a fully interconnected building system?
Megatrends like digitalisation, IoT (Internet of Things) and artificial intelligence are opening up brand-new opportunities in the field of building technology. Individual applications work very well, but they can’t unlock the full potential of a truly smart building.
The smart home today offers a lot of possibilities from a technical perspective. Do you think another advantage of interconnectivity lies in convincing as many users as possible of its potential by providing integrated services that work together?
Definitely. Even if the technology is the best around, no one will use it if they find it too overwhelming. And not everyone wants to use endless apps and remote controls to manage their home. This has a lot to do with acceptance, too, of course. From Deutsche Wohnen’s point of view, the specifications are clear: what can offer our customers, colleagues and service providers in our neighbourhoods and apartments real value?
What is the answer?
Interconnected, carefully considered, all-round solutions that make the building of the future truly smart – from the basement to the rooftop. The different smart-building technologies are closely linked, and their providers can benefit from each other’s experience in areas such as technology, usage and legal affairs. We really welcome digital service providers joining forces, as they’re doing now with ‘das digitale Gebäude @2020’. After all, it’s to everyone’s benefit: the proptechs, us as landlords, and of course, our tenants.
