Michael Zahn, CEO Deutsche Wohnen SE (in front)

The discussion delved into what is needed to balance eco-friendly construction, development of climate-neutral neighbourhoods, and affordable living space. Michael Zahn, Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Wohnen, representatives of Grüner Wirtschaftsdialog e.V. and CEOs Lars von Lackum (LEG Immobilien), Rolf Buch (Vonovia) and Michael Lowak (Getec WÄRME & EFFIZIENZ GmbH) met in person at Deutsche Wohnen’s headquarters. Politicians such as Daniela Wagner and Lisa Paus, members of the Bundestag for Alliance 90/The Greens, joined the meeting remotely online, along with various experts. At the end of the highly constructive debate, the participants agreed on a joint work programme and arranged to continue their conversations. All agreed that the property industry is a key player in achieving climate goals and that it is in politicians’ interest to communicate regularly with private housing companies – as we can only achieve these goals if we work together.

As one of Europe’s biggest property companies, we take our responsibility for achieving climate goals in the property sector seriously. That’s why, alongside collaborating with other businesses in the housing industry and members of local government, Deutsche Wohnen has presented a concept for socially responsible climate action in the property sector as a basis for discussion.
