Dresden’s very own superhero
The new mural by street artist SLIDER from the Bandits crew brightens a Deutsche Wohnen building in Dresden with bold shades of orange, purple and blue. World-famous SLIDER has been making graffiti art for over 25 years.
His mural depicts the famous comic-book hero Gambit with his energy-charged playing cards against the stunning backdrop of the Dresden skyline. The mural is appropriately titled “Dresden Hero”.
SLIDER says that his heart and soul belong to Dresden, and the love for his city comes through in this work of art. A homage to his home town, it is bathed in the shimmering colours of sunset. The lighting effect on the backdrop is applied to the figure of the superhero, too. The precise composition of the light reflections in Gambit’s hair and clothing is particularly thrilling. This makes the mural even more stunning and apt to capture the viewer’s attention.
Late last year, the Bandits covered two walls in punchy pictures of well-known Marvel superheroes as part of the Dixons’ street art project, which saw 20 artists bring new life to a Deutsche Wohnen car park in Berlin’s Neukölln.
This new work of art is the first mural Deutsche Wohnen has commissioned in Dresden. You can find it in the south-east of the city at Spremberger Straße 16.
