Berlin/Magdeburg, 28.04.2017

As Markus Stoll, Chief Operations Officer of GETEC WÄRME & EFFIZIENZ AG explains, "The municipal utilities in Thale are in excellent shape. With their wide range of services and good customer-orientation, they make a positive impression. This transaction builds on our involvement in the region up to now. Only a year ago, we took over and modernised the entire cable network of Rundfunk Gernrode GmbH. And by the end of this year we will have completed our construction work on broadband and high-speed internet infrastructures. We simply want to offer our customers more. A complete range of services from energy-efficient and ultra-modern multi-media infrastructures – all from one provider."

The municipal utilities in Thale operate a local heating and hot water network with approximately 2,000 supply units. Heat and hot water are generated in an environment-friendly way by two power stations with a total thermal output of 12 MW. There are also two bio-methane combined heat and power (CHP) units integrated into the system. In addition, the municipal utilities in Thale deliver electricity and natural gas to approximately 5,500 households and commercial customers in the Thale region.

In the words of Lars Dormeyer, a director of Deutsche Wohnen AG, "With this joint acquisition of the municipal utilities in Thale, we have been able to successfully expand our existing collaboration with GETEC WÄRME & EFFIZIENZ AG and to place our partnership on a broader foundation that goes beyond the supply of the holdings of the Deutsche Wohnen Group. With this acquisition, G + D is becoming involved in the business to customer market for the first time. With this acquisition, we will significantly improve the earnings power of G + D."

Markus Stoll and Christian Pfeuffer, the officer at G + D with statutory authority, will be taking over the running of the municipal utilities in Thale.

In 2013, GETEC and Deutsche Wohnen established a strategic partnership and founded the joint venture company G + D. At the beginning of April 2017, the joint venture company was already supplying approximately 80,000 units with primary energy or heating and hot water.

Matthias Henze, member of the board of management at BS Energy and, up until recently, the managing director of the municipal utilities in Thale makes the following observation, "It is good news for the municipal utilities in Thale that the new owner, G + D, has roots in Saxony Anhalt. I would like to say to our customers in Thale that we were happy to serve you."

For approximately 12 months, BS Energy will take on various services for the municipal utilities in Thale, including providing the statements of accounts for the previous supply period.
