    Reconstruction of the Boulevard Kastanienallee in Berlin-Hellersdorf

    The reconstruction phase of the project “Redesign of the Boulevard Kastanienallee” in Berlin Marzahn-Hellersdorf has started. The aim of the project is to upgrade and reinvigorate the boulevard. To achieve this overall aim, the project is focusing on three key action points: to renew the children’s play areas, to upgrade the central square in the boulevard and to build areas for exercise and relaxation.

    Deutsche Wohnen starts its 2020 tenants‘ survey

    Today Deutsche Wohnen is starting a Germany-wide survey of 31,000 tenants in its residential properties. The survey will focus on the regions of Brunswick, Hanover, Dresden and Berlin-Hellersdorf, and all Deutsche Wohnen tenants in these regions will be invited to respond. The aim of the survey is to find out what tenants think of service provision, service quality and customer orientation with a view to making improvements in quality in response to these needs.

    Deutsche Wohnen sharpens the profile of its portfolio and takes further action on new builds and climate protection in Germany

    The first half-year of 2020 was characterised by the corona pandemic for Deutsche Wohnen too. The company adopted measures to protect its staff, tenants and business partners at an early stage and, with its corona support fund, introduced a tool to mitigate the economic impact of the pandemic particularly for its commercial tenants. Fortunately, the consequences of the corona pandemic for Deutsche Wohnen’s tenants have been less severe up to now than expected. Around 1% of households in our holdings have turned to the company with enquiries and specific requests for help. Moreover, the situation in Deutsche Wohnen’s nursing homes continues to be under control thanks to strict protective measures.

    More than 4,000 tenants benefit from Deutsche Wohnen’s promise to its tenants

    Deutsche Wohnen’s promise to its tenants has been in place for a year now. As part of this promise, the company undertakes to let one in four of its flats to people who have a certificate entitling them to a reduced rent (Wohnberechtigungsschein – WBS). And it also undertakes to adapt any rent increases that follow modernisation work or that are in line with the rent index to the individual circumstances and income of the tenants – and, where necessary, to limit such increases.

    Attempt to make progress on climate protection with socially responsible refurbishment of housing

    More than 80 per cent of people in Germany consider climate protection to be important – but they do not want it to lead to higher rents. So, in an effort to increase society’s acceptance of energy-efficient refurbishments, Deutsche Wohnen has developed a model that enables climate protection and social responsibility to be combined. Its “Plan for socially responsible climate protection in the housing sector” aims to increase the rate at which buildings are refurbished in order to achieve Germany’s national climate protection targets. At the same time, an economic stimulus package running to billions is proposed.

    From 22 June 2020, the Deutsche Wohnen share will be listed in the leading German share index DAX. This has been decided by the German stock exchange on the basis of the criteria for inclusion as part of its fast-entry procedure. Since going public in 1999, the market capitalisation of the company and the trading volume of the Deutsche Wohnen share have risen continuously and now meet the technical criteria for inclusion in this index.

    Deutsche Wohnen shareholders vote for reduced dividend and make a clear commitment to solidarity in the corona crisis

    At today’s Annual General Meeting of Deutsche Wohnen SE, the shareholders supported the proposal of the Management and Supervisory Boards to pay out a dividend of EUR 0.90 per share. This corresponds to a reduction of the originally planned payout ratio by 5 percentage points to 60%.

    Launch of #sicherheim (safe home), a nationwide campaign against domestic violence

    Today is the start date for the nationwide campaign #sicherheim, which aims to provide support to the victims of domestic violence and to raise public awareness of what is often a hidden problem. As well as attracting publicity, the campaign will also be seeking to raise donations to support the work of women’s rights organisations. Over the next few weeks, well-known personalities will be expressing their support for the campaign on posters, in TV and radio commercials, and in other types of adverts. Deutsche Wohnen SE is supporting the campaign as an official partner both financially and through its collaborations with the participating women’s rights organisations.
